Use your Phone Camera like a PRO

This is a basic guide to help you use your camera like a pro and get amazing photos with minimal effort...

The Best Camera app

There are hundreds of camera apps available in the app store, which claim to “ENHANCE” your phone camera or add functionality to it.

The problem is that most of these ‘third-party’  apps are not optimised for your phone. They don’t utilise your phone camera hardware to its full extent.

If you want to try to new features or do something crazy with your camera, go ahead and get a third-party app.  But if you want to get consistently High-quality photos - stick with your default camera app.

Explore the features of your camera

Try out each and every feature or you can just google it out : “Camera Tips for..” followed by the name of your phone.

Here are some popular features which you should be using:

1. Hdr - High Dynamic Range

It helps your phone in capturing the brightest and the dimmest parts of the image. Set it to “auto” for best results.

2. Resolution

Tells how Big your photos will be. Use the normal resolution for pictures i.e Avoid High-resolution modes.

People have this perception of "greater resolution means better pictures" which is completely FALSE. High-resolution pictures usually end up having worse quality because of more grain which is a result of deficient light.

Only use the high-res mode ( 32MP/ 48MP / 64MP / 108MP ) when you plan to crop the image later, otherwise, stick to the default resolution.

3. Gridlines

help you in composing your image, recommended to keep it enabled. Composition is the key to better images, We’ll be talking about this in detail in another post.

4. Aspect Ratio

Use 3:4 ratio, Switching to any other aspect ratio will slightly crop the actual image that your phone is capturing.

5. Multiple Rear-facing Cameras

Smartphones tend to have multiple cameras on the back for various purposes. The best one to use is the primary/main/default camera because companies put more time and effort into refining the main camera & it’s usually packing the best sensor in the entire phone. You may still want to occasionally use the wide-angle camera for landscapes.
